N&F uses only top-quality Japanese denim. Most of their styles use raw selvedge denim. Their signature style is a a silk denim. Every pair is proudly Made in Canada.
They have three fits: a skinny, a slim and a tapered.
The Skinny has a Nudie, APC cut with a low rise, 9" and 14" leg opening (ankle). The slim guy as a 16" ankle and fits a like a standard slim denim. The weird guy is a combination of the two. It fits like the skinny but tapers down to a 14" ankle.
Both the slim and the weird are moderately low rises (10").
For those of you who don't know selvedge denim is a fabric made on old school shuttle looms that were originally patented around 1924. The edges of the fabric are sealed closed during the weaving process creating a "self edge," hence the term "selvedge denim." Selvedge denim is typically heavier, more durable and of superior quality than other denims. It is also far more expensive and difficult to produce this fabric and to maintain these old machines. The cotton yarn is also dyed in a unique process called Long Chain Denim, which is much more time consuming and tedious than other methods, but the result is a deeper indigo color and unique touch.
Naked and Famous keeps all their jeans raw and simple. The use no washes, no embroidery, no gimmicks ... just the best fabric in the world combined with modern fits. They have eliminated these costly (and, in their opinion unnecessary) after-effects, and have stripped down their jeans to the core essentials. Now true denimheads and newcomers alike can enjoy these special fabrics at a reasonable price.
Most raw denim aficionados won't wash their raw jeans for several months so that they break in and fade naturally. The result is a beautiful and personalized jean.
These jeans will bleed (a process called crocking) especially when wet, so mind your undies.
All their fabric is imported from Japan and Made in Canada.
